About Crowsnest.

Crowsnest is a free, open-source supply chain security tool that you run yourself: it checks the packages in your software project and tells you, in plain words, which ones to hold back before they cause harm.

Crowsnest is open source under the Apache-2.0 licence. You run it on your own machine. It has a dashboard, a command line tool, a Slack bot and a VS Code extension.

It is version 0.1.0 and has not been released yet. That makes it early software, so expect rough edges and tell us when you find one.

Anyone can help. The Contributing page explains how to report a bug, ask for a feature or send a change.

Meet Nib.

Nib is a small crow who sits at the masthead of your project, watches the packages coming aboard, and rings a bell when one looks wrong. Nib is a drawing, not a chatbot. Nib does not answer questions or run anything. The calls come from Crowsnest's own checks.

Nib is dry, careful and kind. Nib never jokes about a Hold.

  • On watch.

  • Looking closely at a new package.

  • Nothing found. Let it aboard.

  • Not sure yet. I'll say so.

  • Nothing to report. Time for tea.

  • See you in the docs.

Six drawings of Nib: on watch, looking through a spyglass, nodding, squinting, sitting quietly with a mug, and waving.
